About Pont L’Évêque AOP Cheese
Pont-l’Évêque is a French cheese, it is believed that its name is derived from ‘Norman abbey’ in Normandy, where has been made since at least the 12th century by Cistercian Monks. The cheese is also known as Moyaux cheese. Cheese is unpasteurised, made from cow’s milk and traditional rennet. No vegetarian.
Tasting Notes
A soft and very rich cheese with chewy, quite tender texture and creamy and full-bodied flavour, almost earthy aroma of the farmyard. A full taste is complemented by washing in a local cider.
It is an excellent dessert cheese, which goes well with a robust wine. Tastes best when eaten at room temperature. Is one of Staff favourite in our local shop.
