About Livarot AOC Cheese

Livarot is one of the oldest cheeses from Normandy. Livarot AOC Cheese is a monastic French cheese easily distinguished by its washed rind and pungent aroma. The cheese is also called “The Colonel” because of the five strips of raffia that encircle the cheese, similar to the one worn on a French army colonel’s uniform.
Made from unpasteurized cow’s milk and traditional rennet/ no vegetarian

Tasting Notes

A nice moist, sticky orange surface. Cheese has strong aroma and full-flavored nutty and spicy. Natural brown fibres are wrapped around the cheese. The ivory-coloured paste is smooth, shiny and homogenous. The texture is creamy, smooth and quite runny at room temperature. Perfect with a bold red wine or a glass of Calvados. One of Staff Favourite in our local shop in Stamford.
